OUR HONEYMOON ![]()
In Brazil, a visit to the market place in Belem at the mouth of the Amazon River was an essential side trip. Both of us could look over the heads of everyone! [And yes, the water really does go straight down the drain when you are near the equator.]
After two nights, we flew to an isolated village in the Amazon jungle and on to Rio de Janeiro for a couple of weeks on Copacabana Beach. We made trips from Ipanema to the south, to a zoological paradise to the north of Rio as well as Sugar Loaf mountain by cable cars. The photo above shows us disembarking from a cog railway train at another site seen in James Bond movies ..... Corcovado and its huge statue of Christ with outstreched arms which could be seen from all over Rio. We returned to Trinidad for a two-week stay at Atlantis Beach in a cabin across from the Orinoco River. Pat was permitted to exercise the owner's Canadian-bred horse along the beach. |
