We stayed at the Hotel Normandie in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, for two weeks during which time we drove to Maracas Bay with a picnic basket, took in the Steel Band Competitions, enjoyed the roadside calypso singers, attended skits put on by local acting groups, took drives through the countryside and visited Pitch Lake on the southwest end opposite Venezuela.

We had a great time in a cottage at Crown Point, Tobago, for almost a week, and did some snorkelling out on the coral reefs. We shared our jam with the kiskadees (a bird with a call like its name) every morning in the lodge. There was also dancing to a steel band, and another picnic basket with wine on an isolated beach.
