INVERNESS - 1974 TRIP

CAIRNGORM TOUR

Tour #15 passed through Daviot, Moy, Tomatin, Slocht Summit, the River Spey, the Queen's Forest, Loch Morlich, Glenmore National Forest Park and the ski road to the Coire Cas car park, where we took the chairlift up the Cairngorm ski slopes.
Before we changed to the second stage of the ski lift, we had an excellent view of the area below.
On the second stage of the ski lift, we viewed the restaurant as we rose ever higher. Many tourists preferred to stay in the restaurant for a warm beverage.
From this higher vantage point, we viewed Speyside, where Findlaec the Mormaer of Moray joined Norse Jarl Sigurd and his ilk in spirited combat throughout the Speyside glens.
Sheep were grazing on the hillside near the summit. Another lake, probably Loch Morlich, lay far below.
Finally, here we are at the top, where we were assisted in making a hasty jump from the chairlift.
We took a quick glance around, while the gusts of wind increased and approaching storm clouds suggested that we should depart at once.
We drove past Loch Pityoulish (seen here), Coylumbridge and Rothie Murchus to the Aviemore Centre for tourists, where we had "tea".
After Kinveachy, we stopped briefly near Carrbridge to take this picture of an ancient footbridge. Then the bus took us to our final stop, the Landmark Visitor Centre, where we viewed a display and part of a film on the ice age to the present time in the Highlands.
