EDINBURGH - 1974 TRIP

OUT AND ABOUT

After our tour of the Royal Mile on July 17, Pat took my picture in front of the Ross Fountain at the western end of Princes' Gardens below Edinburgh Castle. Skies remained overcast with frequent periods of drizzle.
After visiting the Botanical Gardens on Saturday, July 20, we walked past Robert Louis Stevenson's home in New Town to Dean's Village. I took a picture of Pat in front of his home.
After our tour to St. Andrews on July 21, I took a picture of the birthplace of Alexander Graham Bell. This plaque is beside the entrance.
Alexander Graham Bell (1847 - 1922), told his father about a method to transmit sound by wire in Brantford, Ontario on July 26, 1874. He wrote the patent specifications there during September of 1875 and, after experiments involving his assistant Thomas Watson, he conducted "three great tests" in Brantford during 1876.
On our walk along Princes' Street, we took another picture of St. Giles Cathedral.
Here is the floral clock in the Princes' Street Gardens.
