The Band and Supporters

Pat and I met a few of the Canadian members at the Pearson International Airport lounge while we waited to board Air Transat on July 21 en route (with a stop in Exeter, England) to Edinburgh, which would arrive there at 9:55 PM on July 22.

We managed to get pictures of a group from Winnipeg, MB, in Aberdeen. We were waiting for a shuttle bus to take us to the Beach Pavillion where we expected a civic reception and a ceilidh. Unlike our trip in 2001, this time the ceilidh was open to the public and those who were hungry were given "stovies" on paper plates. Stovies are left-over potatoes held together with a greasy meat sauce. There was a change in the entertainment too, since the Frank Thompson Show Band couldn't make it.

Again . . . I thank Barb Wipf (centre in the photo) for the Winnipeg buffalo bison pin she gave me after I gave her an Ontario trillium pin with a maple leaf. From then on, I had the nickname "The Hat" when I was wearing my less formal attire. Her photo of Pat and me was taken in front of the residence where we stayed in Edinburgh.

This photograph of the group from Edmonton, Alberta, was taken at the field in Pitlochry. Shown are Lloyd McArthur, Marlena Elm, Jack Cockburn and Joe White.

Joe White wore an interesting crest on his right sleeve, which he explained identified him as a member of the First Nations Crow Tribe. This photo was taken by Pat in Glasgow.

Circumstances did not allow us the opportunity to get photographs of a contingent from Mission, British Columbia, as well as a non-Canadian from Florida, USA.
