Dunnet Head Lighthouse

The tour group had breakfast at the Royal Hotel in Thurso, where we'll be staying again at the end of our trip to the Orkneys. After breakfast, we headed out for an excursion to the Orkney Islands. Our first stop was the Dunnet Head Lighthouse.

Canisbay Church of Scotland
The Queen Mother attended this church when she visited Canisbay. Prince Charles presented a plaque in remembrance of his grandmother to the church, where a private pew is still reserved. [A nearby ruins with flagstones is included in this part.]

John O' Groats
We arrived at the John O'Groats harbour ahead of scedule, and the crossing of the Pentland Firth took slightly longer than the anticipated 45 minutes due to the weather.
