ASSEMBLED TUNE-UP

It had rained all night, and it continued to be a drizzly day in Dundee. The driver of coach #3 advised us that Dundee always remained at a steady 90 degrees ... 45 in the morning and 45 for the remainder of the day.

The band assembled at the Dundee High School for their usual tune-up and practice. The second photo shows the city square in the distance.

PIPERS CIRCLE CITY SQUARE

The band members went through their regular exercise, and this preparation took an amount of time equal to that of the parade. On this occasion, the supporters organized themselves and marched behind the colour party to the civic square, where the band performed and the Provost gave a speech.

Following a rather sumptuous "high tea" at the West Park Centre (salmon, scalloped potatoes, carrots, peas, scones, meringues and fancy pastries), the remainder of the day was spent at Discovery Point. Admission (£5.99/adult) was paid for by the city council, and we enjoyed the displays and information about Scott's Antarctic expeditions, Afterwards, we toured the Royal Research Ship Discovery. The middle photo shows the science officer's quarters.

The ceilidh was cancelled, but a token group remained for a presentation before a visiting Scottish Pipe Major. Bus #3 returned early to make up for the previous night, and the driver was reassigned by the company contracted by Hunters.
