During the week after our arrival at Wapta Lodge in the Kicking Horse Pass we drove north on Highway 83 to the Athabaska Glacier, which is a tongue of the Columbia Icefield. There was plenty of time to take in the gift shops and the information centre before boarding the snow coach for the experience of a lifetime. Environmental conditions may be causing these glaciers to recede.

Our return to our cabin was made very late at night on a tank which was almost empty of gas. Fortunately, the drive back was mainly down hill.
