November 23, 2007

Dear Mr. Ross:

Further to the receipt of your letter dated September 12, 2007 with attachments (1. Copy of letter to you from David S. Eden, M.D. Regional Supervising Coroner Niagara, dated September 6, 2007, 2. E-mail from you to Steve Clark dated September 6, 2007 and 3. Copy of your letter to Dr. David Eden, dated September 3, 2007) and our lengthy conversation on November 22, 2007, this will confirm my directions as how you may investigate the contents of "the green box" which I understand to be either in/on a crypt or contained in the mausoleum itself.

Note:

- The cemetery owner must have the consent of the interment rights holder (IRH) to carry out a disinterment and the cemetery owner must notify the medical officer of health prior to the disinterment.

- Hence, you must provide evidence to the cemetery owner that you are in fact the Interment Rights Holder. You may choose to provide documentation or a court order of some kind to prove that you are the interment rights holder or personal representative of the interment rights holder.

- As for the cost of the investigation (looking into the crypt etc)/disinterment, you would normally be responsible for the costs.

- If you have suspicions about the contents of the crypt/mausoleum you should report this to the police. If the police are convinced that there are grounds to investigate this further they may contact the Coroner, otherwise the coroner has no involvement in regular requests for disinterment

I hope I have answered your queries and provided some concrete direction for you to satisfy yourself of your suspicions.

Thank you,

Michael F. D'Mello, Registrar
