On August 6, 2007, my wife and I made a side-trip to Waterdown in order that I could work on the opening for the lock to the gate, which we discussed previously. I allowed about 30 minutes for the job and believe that some progress was made. I'll take the rat-tail or bastard file with me on my next trip to continue the work.

As you know, I have an interest in both the restoration and the history of the McGregor Ross Mausoleum in the Pioneer Section of the Waterdown Union Cemetery. By and large, I had expected the time-line for both priorities to coincide somewhat. My progress report at http://www.ross-ter.com/Ross-ter_Reports/Mausoleum/MRM.html has come to a standstill this year, much to my regret.

The history of the McGregor Ross Mausoleum cannot rely solely upon second-hand information if it is to retain any credibility. Facts, obtained indirectly, require substantiation in terms of dates and persons involved. I am certain that there are records which I have not been privileged to see . . . for whatever reason. Subsequently, this continues to raise more questions than I intended to deal with. [For example, the location of the "box" containing my aunt's ashes comes to mind. I do not question your integrity in divulging what information has allegedly been received by you but, I am certain that you see what I mean in this context.]

I have enclosed a letter to the Supervising Coroner for the Niagara Region. Perhaps he can assist us in solving some of the mystery pertaining to the mausoleum. Thanks for your help to date.
