5T4 55th REUNION - 2009

A Souvenir Vic Strands

There are some things that we just can't do on a printed paper using today's technology. Here's an example:

Who knows what the future may bring. We know that the old Gestetner in the Student Union Building never produced colour pictures. This issue contains a few. We also have more than one page devoted to "STRANDED".

Each typewriter and typist produced unique problems to be solved on the old Gestetner. A heavy-handed typist produced stencils with popped "o's", "p's", "b's", "d's", "q's", "g's" and sometimes "e's" or "a's". You could spend an hour trying to reinsert the centres of the popped portions into a stencil after the ink revealed their presence. An improperly set stencil could crease or, worse still, tear before the job was finished. The red correcting fluid was sometimes sufficient to repair a simple error, but you had to be careful when you were working with the ink. A little dab on the hand seemed to stick around forever.

PAGE 4 PAGE 5 PAGE 6

Extra pages are possible between 6 and 7 if more anecdotes, photographs, sketches, cartoons, jokes or blurbs are submitted. Page 7 could then become Page 9. At present, this is flexible so that everyone (including spouses) may contribute to this issue. Submissions could include favourite memories, comments about life, how to recognize a senior, blurbs about campus experiences, observed changes around Vic, etc. Let's fill the pages!

PAGE 7 CLASS LIST

The class list was compiled from the original class photo. Deceased persons are in italics followed by an asterisk. Please help us with any omissions if you are able.

We recognize that some individuals from other years may have decided to join the 5T4 group.

The inclusion of given names is impossible on a single-page presentation. However, you may check the final pages of the 2004 Programme Booklet if you wish.
